Some people change your life. I’ve been fortunate in that most of those people have changed it for the good. Those people have far outnumbered those who have been a negative influence, thank goodness!

Some people have been a positive influence in my life for years. One of these is my first organ teacher, who has influenced me for good for most of my life. This arrangement is the result of one of his challenges to me.

My teacher is now the head of the organ program at Utah State University. He uses my arrangements in his teaching, but recently told me that they tend to require too much too much preparation for a beginning organist to play. He asked if I could do a few arrangements that were a little easier. This arrangement of I Need Thee Every Hour is in response to that request.

Even though this piece is simpler than most of my arrangements, I tried to keep it harmonically interesting. It’s a little short (only about three minutes) so that it can be easily learned.
